Vascular imaging

While performing this exam we evaluate all the veins from your groin to your ankle, or from your neck to your wrist. You will be asked to remove your shirt or your pants and shoes for the exam.

If you have varicose veins, your doctor may also order a specialized evaluation to find the source of your varicose veins to determine the best treatment options available for you.

While performing this exam, we begin with blood pressures at your ankles and arms. If indicated, we will also perform an ultrasound to pinpoint any areas of blockage.

While performing this exam we evaluate all the arteries from your groin to your ankle, or neck to your wrist. You will be asked to remove your shirt or pants and shoes for the exam

While performing this exam, a transducer will be placed on each side of your neck. We typically do not need patients to remove or change clothes. Occasionally, we will also provide a specialized evaluation of the blood flow within your brain.

• Aorta/iliac artery duplex: Commonly ordered to check for an aneurysm or plaque buildup in your abdominal aorta or the vessels leading to your legs.
• Renal duplex: This exam evaluates the blood vessels feeding the kidneys. It is commonly ordered if you have high blood pressure or chronic kidney disease.
• Mesenteric duplex: This exam evaluates the vessels carrying blood to your intestines and other organs. It is commonly ordered for abdominal pain or unexplained weight loss.
• Portal duplex: This exam evaluates the blood vessels going to and from your liver. It is commonly ordered if you have abnormal liver enzymes or cirrhosis.
• IVC/iliac vein duplex: This exam evaluates the veins in the pelvis and abdomen that return blood from your legs to the heart. It is commonly ordered for unexplained leg swelling.
