Virtual care

Communicate with a provider from the comfort of your own home through your Salem Health MyChart account.

What is virtual care?

Virtual care allows you to receive medical advice from a Salem Health provider using a computer or mobile device. Two types of virtual care options are available:

  • Video visits — You and your provider interact in real time using online video.
  • E-visits — You fill out a symptom-specific questionnaire for a provider to review.

Virtual care visits work anywhere you have an internet connection. A MyChart account is required.

 

Be "seen" by your regular provider or a Salem Health Urgent Care provider

Both video visits and e-visits are available with your regular provider that you've seen before, or with a Salem Health Urgent Care provider. The table below explains the difference.

*You will not be charged if you begin a video visit and we we determine that a video visit is not appropriate for your need. All billing happens after your visit.

 

Getting started with video visits

  • Sign into MyChart or create an account here.
  • Hover over "visits" in the top menu, then select, "schedule an appointment."
  • Choose the "video visit" box and follow the on-screen prompts.

 

Getting started with e-visits

  • Sign into MyChart or create an account here.
  • Hover over "messaging" in the top menu, then select "ask a question."
  • Choose the "symptom-specific e-visit" box and follow the on-screen prompts.

Let's take a moment to test out your computer, laptop or mobile device to see if you have everything you need for a high quality experience.

In order to have the best video visit the following items will be checked for:

  • Speaker and/or headphones
  • Microphone
  • Video camera
  • Network

If prompted to allow access please accept or else the check will fail.

Virtual visits are only supported on Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 and Google Chrome version 78.
E-visits are supported on Microsoft Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge.
