Screenings are from 6:30 to 10 a.m. in the Salem Health Community Health
Education Center at Salem Hospital to measure cholesterol, blood sugar, blood
pressure, height and weight. Staff will help you understand results. Meet
members of the Mended
Hearts support group from 8 to 10 a.m. while getting your free health
screening.

fast for 12 hours before the cholesterol test!
Talk with a Doc: Living healthy with gadgets — Thursday, Feb. 13,
noon to 1 p.m.
Kaiser Permanente cardiologist Priya Kansal, MD, will share the latest
advancements on leading a heart-healthy lifestyle — and how fitness gadgets
help! Salem Hospital, Building D, first floor, Creekside Overflow.
KYKN radio tips (all at 12:45 p.m.)
Feb. 3: Gabe Gaertner will share how some patients are able
to stop taking blood thinners with the WATCHMAN
device.
Feb. 6: Andy Walker, cardiac nurse navigator, will explain
heart medications.
Feb. 21: Dan Voy will share his journey after quintuple
bypass and how the Mended Hearts support group made a difference.
Heart-healthy meal planning — Wednesday, Feb. 19 and 26, 6 to 8 p.m.
Learn and sample several recipes to satisfy your appetite while protecting
your heart. Come hungry and ready to learn with Chef Andre Uribe. Fee is $15.
