Hand therapy

The certified hand therapists and occupational therapists at Salem Health specialize in treating elbow, wrist and hand injuries, including those caused by:

  • Arthritis
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Tendonitis
  • Surgery
  • Nerve compression
  • Fractures of the upper extremity
  • Trigger finger
  • Custom brace or splinting

We will work with you on a rehabilitation plan to help get you back to your activities, while decreasing your pain.

Joint replacement therapy

At Salem Health, physical and occupational therapy for joint replacement begin on the same day as surgery. A therapy team member will help you perform your exercises, walking and stair training during your initial evaluation and therapy sessions. After surgery, you will be instructed in how to walk with a walker or crutches.

Your occupational therapy team will help you resume activities of daily living, like dressing yourself, getting in and out of the tub or shower, and going to the bathroom. They will also determine if certain pieces of equipment might help you perform these activities safely and effectively when you return home.

Sports physical therapy

Sports injuries are not uncommon, particularly among high school athletes, weekend warriors, runners and triathletes. Salem Health’s orthopedic rehabilitation program is equipped to meet the sports medicine needs of athletes of all levels. We specialize in helping athletes regain the conditioning necessary to return to competition.

Our physical therapists understand that every sport emphasizes specific muscle groups or impacts particular joints more than others. So, whether you are a soccer player or a runner, our goal is to restore all the physical elements necessary for you to return to your sport and prevent future injury.
