Community Health Needs Assessment

Community health improvement at Salem Health

Caring for our community

Salem Hospital and West Valley Hospital have had a long-standing commitment to serve those who live, work and play in Marion and Polk counties. The commitment has grown and evolved through significant thought and care in considering our community's most pressing health needs.

The hospitals work with community partnering agencies — Marion County Health Department, Polk Cpounty Health departments, Kaiser, Legacy, Santiam Hospital, PacificSource — to complete a comprehensive Community Health Needs Assessment for each hospital facility. The most current CHNA was completed in 2019. The results of the assessments guide Salem Health community benefit and strategic planning.

Through our CHNAs, Salem Hospital and West Valley Hospital identify the greatest health needs among each of its hospital's communities, enabling Salem Health to allocate resources toward services, outreach, prevention, education and wellness opportunities where the greatest impact can be realized.
