Salem Hospital recognized for 100 years as American Hospital Association Member
(September 9, 2026) – The American Hospital Association (AHA) has honored Salem Hospital for 100 years of membership in the organization. The AHA has represented hospitals, healthcare networks and their patients for more than 125 years.
Salem Hospital started as a five-bed hospital in 1896. It is now one of Oregon’s largest hospitals and a Level II Trauma Center.
Salem Health also has a medical group of primary and specialty care providers, plus other affiliated services. Salem Health currently has more than 6,400 employees and a medical staff of more than 875 physicians and advanced practice providers.
Sean Barry, Regional Executive for AHA Region 9, presented the award to Cheryl Nester Wolfe, RN, President and CEO of Salem Health Hospitals and Clinics.
“In preparing for this award, we learned that Salem Hospital has a rich history of growing alongside the community, and we are proud to celebrate 100 years together,” said Barry. “The leadership, clinicians and other professionals at Salem Hospital play a vital role in the health of patients and contribute to the vitality of the local economy.”
AHA Region 9 includes member hospitals and health systems in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon and Washington State. Regional Policy Board (RPB) 9 is the AHA governance body for the six states.
