New Woodburn medical clinic opens May 7

Apr 30, 2018

The new clinic aims to meet the growing need for health care in Woodburn and the mid-valley.

Salem Health Hospitals and Clinics is excited to announce that its clinic in Woodburn opens on May 7.

Located near the Woodburn outlet mall, Salem Health Medical Clinic will offer easy-to-schedule primary care for the whole family, and same day-appointments for more pressing issues. Services will include:

  • Annual wellness exams
  • Physicals
  • Immunizations
  • Care for common illnesses and injuries such as fever, flu, sore throat, injuries, sprains and cuts
  • Management of chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes and high blood pressure

“Like most places in the country, Woodburn needs more access to care,” said Bahaa Wanly, chief operating officer & vice president, Salem Health Medical Group. “We all know the frustration of waiting for an appointment to see our provider. Our aim is to give families in the mid-valley quicker access to the care they need.”

The new clinic is a temporary, modular building that will eventually be replaced by a more robust, permanent building to include a broader range of services, including urgent care. Plans for the permanent building are based on the needs of the community so that Salem Health can offer additional services that residents want and need.

The clinic’s key medical staff includes David Lee, MD; and Monica Henderson, family nurse practitioner.

“I’m passionate about family care and specifically preventive health in the family structure,” said Henderson. “I’m also excited to start something new and look forward to establishing a permanent presence in Woodburn.”

LeeDavid-091117aDr. Lee looks forward to making an impact. “I wanted to get back to the core of why I went into medicine 20-plus years ago—which is service and community,” he said. “I’d worked in areas like Newport Beach, California, and Lake Oswego over the last 12 years, but felt I could make a bigger impact in this community.”

A commemorative ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Woodburn Chamber of Commerce greeters is scheduled for the morning of May 4 at the new clinic location.

Salem Health is also sponsoring Woodburn Chemeketa’s Cinco de Mayo celebration on May 4 and 5. Community members will have the opportunity to speak with clinic staff and/or members of the Salem Health Community Health Education Center Friday evening and all day Saturday. The CHEC will also be providing free blood pressure screenings at the booth from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
