(Dallas, Ore. – September 29, 2026) – West Valley Hospital is investing $75 million in an expansion project that will create a 15,000 square foot emergency department, a new space for MRI and CT scans, expanded laboratory space, an upgraded kitchen and a new entrance.
Construction is currently underway for the new MRI space. The next big change is temporarily closing the north entrance on SE Washington St. on October 1 for construction.
During this time, traffic can enter the parking lots on the east side, via SE Miller and SE Uglow Avenues, or on the south side, via SE Clay St. A temporary entrance is located on the east side of the building.
Patients visiting the emergency department will still enter the hospital on the west end of SE Clay St.
Work on the new emergency department is scheduled to begin in March 2027, with the remaining work to follow. The entire project is expected to wrap up in 2030.
“Salem Health is investing in our communities as they grow,” said Cheryl Nester Wolfe, MSN, RN, President and CEO of Salem Health Hospitals & Clinics. “In the last few years, we’ve expanded services in West Valley by adding hospital beds, staff and specialty care services. This work is just getting started.”
The hospital will continue to operate as usual while construction is underway.
