WVH MEC seeking nominations

Apply for Medical Specialty or Surgical Specialty Department Chair by Oct. 3

The West Valley Hospital Medical Executive Committee (MEC) is seeking nominations for the Medical Specialty and Surgical Specialty Department Chair positions. Current chairs, Christina Meier, DO; and Eric Laro, MD; are interested in running for a continued term. Term commences January 2026.

Minimum qualifications 

• Member of the Active staff with relevant clinical privileges
• Member of the respective Medical Specialty or Surgical Specialty Department

Committee participation 

• Member of the Medical Executive Committee: Meets the fourth Wednesday of the month from 6:30 to 8 a.m.

Department chair responsibilities

Below is a sampling; more information is available in the West Valley Hospital Medical Staff Bylaws (contact the Medical Staff Office).

• Oversee all clinically related activities of the department.
• Provide ongoing surveillance of the performance of all individuals in the medical staff department who have been granted clinical privileges.
• Recommend to the MEC the criteria for requesting clinical privileges that are relevant to the care provided in the medical staff department.
• Recommend clinical privileges for each member of the department and other licensed providers practicing with privileges within the scope of the department.
