Many of you have asked me about the status of our discussions with Santiam Hospital. I’m pleased to share Santiam Hospitals & Clinics and Salem Health Hospitals and Clinics have signed a Letter of Intent to affiliate. This is an important step in our ongoing exploration of a partnership — one rooted in shared values and a mutual commitment to the communities we serve.
Salem Health and Santiam have much in common: Both are not-for-profit, shaped by local leadership and guided by a deep responsibility to care for our neighbors. We serve many of the same patients, and this affiliation is about strengthening what matters most — a deeply committed and mutual quest for quality patient care delivered with excellence and compassion.
There is still much work ahead as we continue the process of working together to review our synergies and opportunities. The work will include quality and financial analysis and a definitive agreement. As with all we do, this will be a team effort, and I look forward to learning what is possible with our future Santiam partners.
I believe the future of health care in the Willamette Valley is bright, and the affiliation will strengthen patient care for our community.
As we embark on the journey with Santiam, I will keep you informed of our progress.
