Critical Care Services

The critical care department encompasses a wide range of patient services.

The units within the department are arranged based on the required care-level of patients and the type of injuries incurred.

Receiving a third Beacon Award from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), the first hospital in Oregon to do so, is a testament to the exceptional patient care provided through improved health outcomes and greater overall patient and family satisfaction.

Moreover, the team is committed to quality care which involves both the clinical and emotional side of health.

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team was recently honored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for achievement in eliminating ventilator-associated pneumonia and central-line associated bloodstream infections.

Bill D., Emergency Room RN, 8 years experience

"At first I always hated getting little kids with a broken arm or leg because I’d have to set them up with an IV, which hurts, but then by the end they’re so happy and can go home! It’s nice when you can intervene and make a difference."

Julie D., Trauma Surgery Physician’s Assistant, 6 months experience

“It’s fast-paced, it’s always a different day, and I’m always doing something different. I love being able to help save lives and waking up in the morning not knowing what I’ll encounter during the day. Each day is new and exciting. ”

Diane S., Clinical Trial Supervisor, over 30 years experience as RN, supervisor for 6 months

“It is a different kind of nursing. It is important because, without clinical trials, we wouldn’t have all these breakthroughs in medicine. We’re really working to be a world-class cancer care center.”
