Education and support
If you’ve ever done a Google search for the word cancer, you know how much information is available out there.
The Salem Cancer Institute is your local source for trustworthy, up-to-the-minute information—minus the sales pitch.
Our caring staff can point you to any number of local and national resources that will guide you every step of the way from diagnosis to treatment and beyond.
We have an ever-expanding roster of classes, events and support groups for cancer patients. Use the links on the left or visit the Community Health Education Center’s (CHEC) event calendar to find one that interests you.
CHEC is also an excellent source for medical information. They have a resource center where you can check out books and an online health library with regularly updated information. If you prefer national sources, you can visit the websites of several site-specific cancer organizations.
Play for a Cure Oregon
Join Salem Cancer Institute at Play for a Cure Oregon©, a local softball tournament for breast cancer awareness.
The event will be held August 16-18 at Wallace Marine Park in West Salem and is the largest slow-pitch softball tournament in Oregon.
Over 40 women’s and coed teams from across the state will play to “strike out” breast cancer.
Breast cancer survivors are invited to throw out the first pitch of each game.
To sign up as a survivor pitcher, please call 503-363-8892 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Survivors will be recognized at a special ceremony on Saturday, August 17 at 11:30 a.m.
