Level II Trauma Center accreditationThe Oregon Department of Human Services has accredited Salem Hospital as a Level II Trauma Center, ready to care 24/7 for the Willamette Valley’s most seriously injured patients. Every trauma patient who arrives in the emergency department is met by a 10-member trauma team consisting of physicians, nurses and other support staff to ensure rapid evaluation and treatment of their injuries. |

HHS sustained improvement awardSalem Hospital is the only Oregon hospital to earn one of the first-ever sustained improvement awards given by U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for achievement in eliminating ventilator-associated pneumonia and central-line associated bloodstream infections in the intensive care unit. Salem Hospital has had none of these types of infections for a significant period of time. The Salem Hospital intensive care unit was among 10 hospital units to be honored for this achievement in both infection types. |

Language Access team recognizedSalem Hospital is the first hospital in Oregon—and one of the few in the nation—to have the majority of its interpreters nationally certified by the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters. Both our Spanish- and Russian-speaking interpreters are certified, which means they have gone through extensive training in medical terminology and cultural sensitivity. |
