Medical humanities film series
If you're treating patients with Alzheimer's-or patients dealing with this disease in their families-Salem Health begins a new Medical Humanities Film Series with Still Alice on Thursday, April 7, at 6:30 p.m., in the Creekside Room, Building D. It will be followed by a panel discussion led by Psychiatrist Michael Miller, MD, and Kathleen Cody, executive director of the Salem-based Alzheimer's Network.

Starring Julianne Moore, this Academy Award-winning movie is about early onset of Alzheimer's disease. The venue was chosen in case you want to have dinner, too, since food is available for purchase in Creekside Dining. The new series uses an entertainment approach to education, mixing a major film with a panel discussion by experts.

Because space is limited, please pre-register on the CHEC website or call 503-814-2432 (CHEC). The series is sponsored by the Salem HHospital Foundation and coordinated by Salem Health Medical Ethicist Hong Lee. While future films haven't been chosen, the plan is to show about three films a year. Please give us your ideas and feedback.

For more information, contact Hong Lee at 503-814-2333 or email him at
