The CHEC Library: The Community Health Education Center houses a library of books that may be able to offer more detail into the subject. The CHEC is located at Salem Hospital in Building D and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The CHEC Yourself Podcast: In April of 2021, Sarah Daniels (Salem Health’s Stroke Navigator) was kind enough to share her knowledge on the CHEC’s podcast “CHEC Yourself.” You can access that episode through any podcast streaming service or by clicking this link: www.checyourself.podbean.com/e/a-stroke-of-insight/.
CHEC Facebook Live events: Come join our “Tuesday Talks at 1 O’Clock” where we offer education on topics of concern to the community. During May, we will be focused on providing more content on how to prevent and recover from stroke.
Join a support group: Salem’s Stroke Survivors and Caregivers Support Group is available to community members on the second Tuesday of each month from 1 to 3 p.m. (participants are asked to arrive at 12:30 p.m.). Meetings are held at Salem’s First Church of the Nazarene, Room 206 at 1550 Market Street NE. Contact Scott Werdebaugh at swerdses@yahoo.com if you have questions.
