Interpreters
Salem Hospital has nationally certified interpreters for people who are deaf or hearing-impaired, or who have limited English language skills. An interpreter may be contacted at any hour of the day or night; just ask your nurse.
We have Spanish- and Russian-speaking interpreters at the hospital who can work with you face-to-face. If you are more comfortable speaking in another language, we have 24-hour access to a phone service with interpreters who speak more than 140 languages.
Equipment—amplified phones, TTYs and TV decoders—is available for patients who are deaf or hearing-impaired. Let your nurse know if you need any of these devices.
