Our Enduring Promise to Patients and Our Communities
Mission
Salem Health as the parent organization for Salem Hospital, West Valley Hospital, and other health services, has as its stated mission:
To improve the health and well-being of the people and communities we serve.
The mission expresses our reason for being and the ultimate purpose for this tax-exempt, healthcare organization.
Vision
We challenge ourselves each day, in the activities we pursue and the investments we make in terms of time, talent and resources, to strive toward our stated vision:
We will be a top-performing healthcare leader that is:
- The first choice for people seeking healthcare.
- The first choice for physicians, employees, and volunteers.
- A safe environment with a culture of continuous quality improvement.
Values
In carrying out these endeavors, it is important to define the values that determine how we conduct our work and how we relate to those we serve and to one another.
The patient experience reflects these values. All who align their professional or clinical services with or work within Salem Health are asked to adhere to standards of behavior based on these values. We base our decision-making on these values.
Further, our recruitment efforts rely not only on selecting individuals with outstanding expertise and experience but on the talents stemming from these values that must be inherent in those who represent Salem Health day in and day out, in all they do to provide the healthcare services everyone deserves.
These values are part of the heritage of principled healthcare delivery which behan more than 100 years ago and are the foundation of Salem Health today. They are:
- Excellence – Committed to the highest quality in all that we do.
- Caring – Sensitive, kind, and compassionate in all of our interactions.
- Integrity – Honest and ethical in all that we say and do.
- Accountability – Personally responsible for our work and for the results.
- Teamwork – Individuals and groups collaborating to benefit those we serve.
